Chris Haven is more of a long-term mobile & RV park, but they do offer daily & weekly rates for short-term visitors (rates vary).
The park is located along Highway 50, central to many shops, restaurants, and beaches. It is also next to the vast RV-friendly Tahoe Valley Campground.
Things To Do Near Chris Haven RV
Chris Haven RV is located a few blocks away from one of South Lake Tahoe’s main shopping areas, the “Y”. In this area there’s a Raley’s supermarket, Starbucks, Big 5 Sporting Goods, CVS Pharmacy, and Kmart.
There are also some good bars and restaurants at the Y. Lake Tahoe AleWorX has great wood-fired pizza and a tap wall where you can pour your own beer & wine. They have a patio area with firepits and occasionally live music. Verde Mexican Rotisserie is next to AleWorX and serves great tacos and burritos with organic, locally-sourced ingredients. South Lake Brewing Company is on the other side of the Y. Bring your dogs here and enjoy their craft beers, games, live music, and food trucks. Classic Cue is across the street, a small pool hall that serves good food.
Chris Haven RV is close to the Upper Truckee River. This is a refreshing waterway for tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. You can also rent watercraft at a number of marinas nearby, and many of them also offer boat tours. These are Camp Richardson Marina, Tahoe Keys, and Ski Run Marina. These marinas also have beaches at them. Other beaches near Chris Haven RV include Kiva Beach, Baldwin Beach, and El Dorado Beach (unless the water level is high). Kiva and Baldwin are 10-15 minutes from Chris Haven.
Another popular Lake Tahoe tour is by helicopter at Tahoe Heli Tours. The campground is only a few minutes from the Lake Tahoe Airport.
Hikers will find many great hiking trails near Chris Haven RV. They include Angora Lakes, Glen Alpine Springs, and the popular yet difficult Mt. Tallac trail. There are numerous other trails going into the Desolation Wilderness trailheads close to Chris Haven RV.
