The Goose Meadow Campground is ten miles north of Tahoe City along Highway 89. It’s not technically in the Lake Tahoe basin but is close enough, and travel between the campground and Tahoe City is easy enough.
Goose Meadow Campground is comprised of two loops between the highway and the Truckee River. It’s my favorite of the three campgrounds along the Truckee River; it has the most isolation from the highway and more of a serene setting because of it. Of the 21 campsites, two are designated tent-only sites, and most at least offer partial shading.
This campground gives you great access to fly fishing in the Truckee River, bicycling miles of paths along the river, and nearby hiking opportunities.
Pets must be leashed.
Reservations must be made at least two days before arrival and can be made six months in advance.
Truckee is five minutes north and Tahoe City is fifteen minutes south.
